    Monday, March 17 - Happy St. Patrick's Day!

    • GOAL: Students will demonstrate understanding of the PRIDE Matrix as it pertains to Speech Class.
    • Warm up:  What does Integrity mean to you inside and outside of school?
    • Bring in an item that symbolizes "Integrity" to decorated PRIDE letters:)
    • Hand out collage assignment - due tomorrow!

    Tuesday, March 18

    • GOAL: Students will demonstrate understanding of Speech Attention Getters through note taking and practice.
    • Warm-up:  What is your greatest fear about this class?  Explain why.
    • Hand out Syllabus - Go over and turn in signed sheet on Friday.
    • Go over Parts of an Introduction (attention getters)
    • Work on Collage Assignment if time.  Present collages tomorrow!

    Wednesday, March 19

    • GOAL: Students will use listening skills to get to know each other through an introductory speech.
    • Warm Up:  What do you believe will be your best speaking technique? Explain why.
    • Present Introduction Collages

    Thursday, March 20

    • GOAL:  Students will understand why we use attention getters in speech.
    • 10 minute warm up - finish attention getter practice.
    • Present final collages
    • Share your best attention getter
    • Discuss Demonstration Assignment and that they will need to sign up--think about what you want to teach the class.
    • Finish Speech Notes

    • GOAL: Students will demonstrate understanding of complete introductions and outlining.
    • Warm up - Speech intro pop quiz!
    • Sign up for demo topics by today!
    • Write a sample outline to prepare for demo outline.

        • GOAL: Students will demonstrate understanding of library research and MLA through completion of an LMC test and activities.  Mrs. Brainard in to speak about Destiny Quest, LMC Expectations, & CQ Researcher
        • Complete the first part of the LMC test (#'s 1-5)

        Tuesday, April 15

        • GOAL:  Students will demonstrate understanding of in-text citations and a works cited page when working with research.
        • Go over what works cited and in-text citations are by going through the agenda book and showing different examples.
        • Go over magazine (CQ Researcher), Books, Anthologies, and dictionary.com -- show how to cite using the agenda book
        • Do examples of each on the board as a class (lined paper on document camera) paying attention also to MLA.

        Wednesday, April 16

        • GOAL:  Students will demonstrate understanding of in-text citations and a works cited page when working with research.
        • Go over online databases (SIRS, InfoTrac, Gale, Elibrary) and remind them of Destiny Quest and how much easier citing is when you use that.
        • Show them how to cite within these databases using the agenda book, if necessary.
        • Last half of hour -- Back portion of library to work on back page of library test (online databases)

        • GOAL:  Students will demonstrate understanding of in-text citations and a works cited page when working with research.
        • Front of library - Tour the library noting where CQ Researcher and the anthologies are, along with different genres of books.
        • Work on the book portion of the library test

        Friday, April 18 (1/2 day)

        • GOAL:  Students will demonstrate understanding of in-text citations and a works cited page when working with research.
        • Final day to complete LMC test in library.  Turn in when done:)

        • GOAL: Students will demonstrate understanding of research through use of Opposing Viewpoints and SIRS.
        • Break up into Group Discussion Groups
        • Choose Topic as a group--write names of group members and topic question for Mrs. Foley
        • Research to find at least one article on your topic.

        Wednesday, April 23

        • GOAL: Students will demonstrate understanding of their discussion topics through database research.
        • Complete Advantages/Disadvantages and History/Statistics TODAY.

        Thursday, April 24

        • GOAL: STudents will demonstrate understanding of solutions through interpreting articles on chosen topics.  
        • Work on completing solutions with support from sources (back side of outline)

          • Finish research and work on writing outlines.  These are due at the END of the hour tomorrow!

          • Complete outlines with works cited page and turn in--print 2 copies--one for me and one for you to practice!

            • Back of LMC today (sit in a row with your group to find a research question that has two sides to the issue)--you ALL must agree on the topic!
            • Need Group Discussion question for each group BEFORE the end of the hour
            • The ONLY 3 items that should FOR SURE be the same on your outlines are (this should be written down in groups on EACH outline):
